Experience is Earned in the Trenches.

The statistics on commercial construction are staggering. U.S. construction productivity has declined 40% since 1970, while the broader economy has grown exponentially (McKinsey, 2017). The numbers tell a stark story: only 31% of projects finish within 10% of their deadlines (KPMG, 2023), 81% of design firms struggle to fill critical positions (AGC, 2023), and poor coordination leads to up to 65% rework on major developments (CMAA). With construction representing 4.5% of U.S. GDP (U.S. BLS, 2023) and employing over eight million workers, these failures ripple through the entire economy.

But statistics don’t capture the reality on the ground.

Expertise is forged in the “trenches” and chaos of a project gone sideways. It’s the call you get when:

  • A general contractor defaults with the project 85% complete.
  • Three floors of timber framing violate ADA and must be dismantled.
  • A ‘green’ concrete mix proves unworkable, triggering millions in disputed damages.
  • An eight-figure equity injection is required to save a project from insolvency.
  • A major subcontractor goes bankrupt, leaving a trail of liens to be bonded.

These crises generate the disputes we aim to prevent and resolve: labor strikes and union conflicts, delay claims exceeding deadlines, false claims involving federal funding, quality defects requiring remediation, scope creep and change order battles, and contractor defaults threatening project completion.

Woldhurst Advisors was founded because we have lived these scenarios.
